How to start a Boost
A Boost puts your listing, or one of your posts, in the spots marked Featured and Sponsored. By the end of this page, you'll have one running, and you'll know how to pause it or end it. To learn what a Boost does and when to use one, read how Boost works.
Your business type
Before you start
- A Polish Perfect account and a claimed listing. If you haven't claimed yours yet, claim your business first.
- A live post, if you want to boost a post. You can also make one inside the setup on a computer.
- A computer, if you want to boost your listing or choose your own pages. On a phone, Boost works on posts only.
- A card. If there's no card on your account, we ask for one when you launch.
Start your Boost
- 1
Open Boost
Sign in and open your dashboard. On a computer, tap "Boost" in the menu on the left, then tap "Create boost". On a phone, tap the "Boost" tab at the bottom.
On a phone, the setup is shorter. Under "Boost a post", tap a post, tap one of the choices under "2 · Set a monthly budget", then tap "Boost this post". We set the reach around your listing for you. Steps 2 to 7 below are for a computer.
- 2
Choose what to boost
You'll see 3 cards. "Sponsored Listings" boosts your business on city pages and on other listings' pages. "Sponsored Posts" boosts a job, deal, or referral post. "Sponsored Designs" shows a salon on nail design pages. Tap "Create Campaign" on the card you want.
If you see "You have a saved draft" at the top, tap "Resume draft" to pick up where you stopped.
- 3
Pick your listing and your targeting
Under "Pick your listing", tap "Choose a listing..." and tap your business. Under "Targeting", tap "Automatic targeting" if you want us to pick the pages inside your radius. Tap "Manual targeting" if you want to pick the pages yourself.
- 4
Pick your post, if you chose Sponsored Posts
Under "Post targeting", tap "Marketplace Feed Target" to show the post in the feed, or "City Targets" to show it on the local deal, job, and referral pages. Then, under "Pick your post", choose the listing and check the post you want.
No post yet? Tap "Create one now" and make one without leaving the page. A post marked "Already boosted" is in another Boost.
- 5
Pick your reach
Under "Pick your reach", tap 5, 10, or 20 miles. With automatic targeting, every city page inside that distance is included. With manual targeting, you check the cities yourself. You can also add "Nationwide" or your state page under "Broader pages", or switch "Target type" to "Competitor targets" and pick other listings' pages.
The list in this section shows every page your Boost will be on.
- 6
Set your dates and your budget
Scroll to "Settings". Type a "Campaign name" you'll know later. "Start" is set to today, and you can move it to a later day. "End" says "No end date". Tap it if you want the Boost to stop on a day you choose. Then type an amount in the "Daily budget" box. You can't launch until that box is filled in.
- 7
Check the summary, launch, and add a card
Read "Launch Summary" on the right. It lists your listing, your pages, and your budget. Then tap "Launch Campaign". If there's no card on your account, a card screen opens. Add your card there. You come back to Boost, see "Finishing your campaign…", and land on your new Boost's page.
Not ready? Tap "Save draft". The draft stays on the device you're using, and you can open it again from step 2.
- 8
Pause it or end it
On a computer, open "Boost" and use the switch at the start of the row to pause or resume. To stop for good, tap "Details", tap "End Campaign", and tap it again when it says "Are you sure? This cannot be undone." On a phone, tap "Pause" or "Resume" under "Your boosts".
A Boost you ended can't be turned back on. To run it again, create a new one.
What happens next
Your Boost starts on its start date. If you left "Start" on today, it starts when you launch. Your listing or post then shows in the marked spots on the pages you picked, with a Featured or Sponsored label.
Each Boost has its own page in your dashboard. It shows how many times your spot was seen and how many taps it got. In the list, a Boost reads "Running", "Paused", "Budget hit", or "Ended". "Budget hit" means it reached its budget and paused itself. It starts again on its own in the next monthly cycle.
A Boost doesn't change your place in the regular list under the marked spots. That order follows its own rules. Read how rankings work to see them.
Something went wrong
- The "Launch Campaign" button is gray.
- Something is still missing. Check that you picked a listing, that "Pick your reach" has at least 1 page, and that you typed a daily budget. For Sponsored Posts, check at least 1 post. If you set an end date, it can't be before the start date. "Launch Summary" tells you what's missing, with a line like "Select at least one post to run feed or local page placements."
- I don't see "Create boost", or there's no listing to choose.
- Boost only works with a listing you've claimed or added. If the page says "Claim your business first", tap "Claim a business" and follow how to claim your business. Then come back.
- My phone says "Nothing to boost yet".
- On a phone, Boost needs a live post that isn't in a Boost already. Tap "Create a post", share a job, deal, or referral, then come back to the "Boost" tab. See how to post a deal.
- No cities show up under "Pick your reach".
- If you see "No cities found in this radius", tap a bigger distance. If the list didn't load, tap "Try again". If it still shows nothing, email support@polishperfect.co and tell us which listing it is.
- I came back from the card screen and my Boost isn't there.
- If you left the card screen without saving a card, nothing was launched. If a red message at the top says we couldn't confirm your card, your card wasn't picked up. Set up the Boost again and tap "Launch Campaign". If it keeps happening, email support@polishperfect.co.
