For nail salons and the techs who work in them

Someone is searching for the set you did last week. Put it where they'll find it.

Step one

Find your salon to claim it

Photos and tags live in the claimed salon's dashboard. Claiming is free and takes a phone call to the number on your listing, about a minute.

Polish Perfect's design collections are built for the searches people actually type, like short square nails and French tip coffin nails. Every photo on them is a real set from a real salon, and every photo links straight to that salon's page. Upload your work, tag the style and the shape, and your salon is on the page that search lands on. Free, and the best-rated salons go first.

Before someone books a set, they look at pictures. They type the look into Google, something like "short square nails" or "French tip coffin nails", and open whatever shows them real sets. Polish Perfect built a collection for each of those searches, filled only with photos from real salons, where every photo is a link to the salon that did it. This guide is about getting your sets onto those pages, as high as they can go, and what happens to your listing when they're there.

Where the search lands

A collection is one look crossed with one shape: Short Square Nails, French Tip Almond Nails, Pink Coffin Nails, Chrome Stiletto Nails. The looks are styles like French, ombré and chrome, lengths like short and long, and colors like pink, nude and red. The shapes are almond, coffin, square, oval and stiletto. Each page exists because people search for exactly that phrase; the collections are picked from Google's own numbers, and a page only opens once it has enough real photos to be worth landing on.

What's on the page is the point. Not stock images, not a brand's lookbook: two dozen real sets, each one with the salon's name and city under it. Someone scrolling it is deciding what they want and, a moment later, who should do it. The salon whose set they stopped on is one tap away.

  • The hub lists every open collection with a cover photo and a real count of sets on it.
  • Each collection shows up to 24 sets, best-rated salons first, with the top set as the page's cover.
  • Under the grid, a row of salons near the reader that do that style, and a link to the city directory.
  • The pages are public and indexed by Google, so most readers have never heard of Polish Perfect. They searched for a look and arrived.

What your photo gets on the page

Every set on a collection is a card, and the card is built to send the reader to you. Here is what it looks like, exactly as a reader sees it.

#1 on Short Square Nails right now · The card every photo gets. The name, the photo, and View salon all open the salon's page; Share copies the salon's link.
  • Your salon's name and city at the top of the card, and a numbered position on the page.
  • The photo itself is a link to your listing, the biggest tap target on the card.
  • A View salon button, in case the reader missed the first two.
  • A Share button that copies your listing's link, so the set travels with your name on it.
  • Labels for the style, length, color and shape the photo carries, which also put it on every other collection it matches.

The set at #1 does one more thing: it becomes the cover of the collection on the hub, in the related-pages rail on sister collections, and in the preview when the page is shared. One photo, leading one page, shows up in four places.

Upload, then tag

Three steps, all in your dashboard once the salon is claimed. Open your listing, open Photos, and upload a set: a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB, one set per photo, close enough to see the work. The photo is on your listing's page the moment it lands. Then hover it and choose Tag design.

Save tags
The dialog on each of your uploaded photos. One style plus one shape is enough; the photo joins every collection that matches.

Pick the style and the shape that photo shows, and save. That's the whole job. The photo joins every open collection that matches, your listing shows an On designs mark on it, and you can change or remove the tags any time. A set tagged French and Almond is on French Tip Almond Nails; tag it Ombré too and it's on Ombré Almond Nails as well.

Tag honestly

A reader who clicked Chrome Stiletto Nails and found a plain French set leaves, and the salon under it looks careless. One accurate tag on a great photo does more than five loose ones. If a photo doesn't clearly show a style on the list, give it the shape alone and skip the style; it still counts toward your listing, and you can tag it later.

Your tags cover the style collections. The length and color collections, like Short Square Nails and Nude Square Nails, carry tags the directory adds in its own review of salon photos, and that review doesn't run on the sets you upload. If one of your tagged sets belongs on a length or color collection, email the photo to support@polishperfect.co and we'll add those tags for you.

Your salon may already have a set or two on the collections before you claim it. Claiming lets you choose which sets represent you: upload the ones you're proud of, tag them, and remove any you'd rather not lead with.

How the order works

The order on every collection is the same two numbers, and they're both yours to move.

  1. 01Your rating. Salons with a higher average rating go first.
  2. 02Your review count. Between salons with the same rating, more reviews goes first.

Then the page takes one set from each salon in that order, and goes around again, so the top of the page shows a breadth of salons rather than one salon's whole gallery. No salon gets more than four sets on one collection. The first set the page takes is the cover.

  • What counts: your rating, your review count, and having a photo that carries the page's style and shape.
  • What doesn't: when the photo was uploaded, how many photos you have in total, and whether the salon is claimed. An unclaimed salon with a 4.9 can sit above you.
  • What moves you: tagging more sets puts you on more pages; a better rating moves you up every page you're on at once. The rankings guide has the rest of what a review does for you.

Being #1 is a whole page, not a slot

At #1 your set is the cover readers see before they open the page, the first card when they do, and the preview when anyone shares it. The salon at #1 on a collection that people search tens of thousands of times a month is, for all of those readers, the salon that does that look. A better-rated salon with a tagged set of the same look is the only thing that changes it.

Your sets are already good enough. They're just not on the page.

What comes back to your listing

The collections are the front door. Everything behind it is your listing, and the same photos do work there too.

  • Every card's name, photo and View salon button land on your listing's page, where your hours, services, phone and reviews are.
  • The photos you uploaded are on that page too, so the reader who arrived for one set sees the rest of your work before deciding.
  • Tagging a style adds that service to your listing, so you also appear in the row of salons that do that style under the grid, and on the city's service pages for it.
  • Your main image is your card across every city and service page. Set the set you're proudest of as the main image and it's what the directory shows for you.
  • Three photos is the single biggest item on your completeness score, which sets your position inside your tier on the city pages. The rankings guide covers the rest.
  • Once a week, readers who signed up on the design pages for ideas in their city get an email with three sets from near them, each with the salon's name. Your sets are in that pool the moment they're on a collection in your city.

None of it is sold. There is no fee for being on a collection, no charge when someone taps through, and no way to buy a higher spot in the organic order. The free moves are the ones that work: good photos, honest tags, and reviews.

If you're a nail tech

The collections run on salon listings, so a set reaches them through the salon's account. You still have two ways in. Your own profile carries your portfolio, with captions and tags you write, and you can link any photo to the salon you work at: it then shows on that salon's page with your name on it, and the owner can make it the salon's main image.

To get the same set onto a collection, send it to the owner to upload and tag from the salon's dashboard, or upload it yourself if you run the salon. When it leads a page, it's the salon's name under it, and the client who books from it walks in asking for the tech who did it. If the owner hasn't claimed the salon yet, this page is the one to forward.

The fastest way onto a page you don't lead yet

Reviews take time. If there's a collection you want your salon on today, a Boost puts your salon in the sponsored spots on that collection for readers near you: two cards at the front of the salon row and the spot in the sidebar, marked Sponsored, with your photo, rating and a button to your page. The organic order of the sets doesn't change; a Boost is a second way onto the page, not a way to rearrange it. You pick the collection and the radius, and it starts from a free credit. Every Boost placement, and how a Boost feeds your rank.

Questions salons ask

Does it cost anything?

No. Uploading photos, tagging them, and appearing on the collections are all free for a claimed salon. The collections are ordered by your rating and reviews, not by anything you pay.

Which photos can I tag?

Photos you uploaded to your listing yourself. Pick at least one style and one shape, and the photo joins every collection that matches. You can change or remove the tags any time.

Why isn't my photo on a collection I tagged it for?

Every collection needs enough photos to open, and some styles are still filling up. The tag is saved either way, so the photo joins the moment the page opens.

Can a nail tech put their own work on the collections?

The collections run on salon listings, so the set has to be uploaded and tagged from the salon's account. A tech with a Polish Perfect profile can link their work to the salon they work at, and that shows on the salon's page and their profile. To get the same set onto a collection, send it to the owner to upload and tag, or upload it yourself if you run the salon.

How do I get to #1 on a page?

The order is your rating first, then your review count. Tagging more sets gets you onto more pages; a better rating moves you up every page at once. A Boost puts your salon in the sponsored spots on a chosen collection for viewers near you.

Where else do the photos show?

On your listing's page, on your card across the city and service pages, as the cover of any collection you lead, and in the weekly design email that goes to readers who asked for ideas in your city.

The page for the search already exists. Be on it.

Claim your salon, upload the sets, tag the style and shape. A better set than the one at #1 is all it takes to move the whole page.
