The order on every city, neighborhood, and service page comes from a few plain rules. Here they are, what doesn't count, and what you can do about it. No secrets, and nothing you can pay for in the organic list.
- The free way to the top
- A checklist ranked by impact
- The honest math on paid spots
What counts
Within a tier, four things decide the order
Once the tier is set, your position comes from how complete your listing is, how recently it changed, how often visitors contact you from it, and a short lift after you claim. All four are things you control.
Completeness
How much of your listing is filled in
Photos, hours, services, a description, a phone number, a website, specialties, walk-in policy, and a priced menu each count. Three or more photos and three or more services count the most.
Freshness
How recently your listing changed
A listing updated this month ranks above one untouched for a year, all else equal. Changing hours or adding a photo counts.
Response
How often visitors contact you from the page
Calls, direction taps, and website clicks from your listing, measured against other salons in your city. A page that gets visits but no calls earns nothing here.
New claim
A short lift after you claim
Newly claimed salons get a lift for the first couple of months so a fresh profile has a chance to earn its place. It fades on its own.
What doesn't move you
Paying
A Featured slot is paid placement, labeled as such and shown in reserved spots. It never changes where you sit in the organic list. If it brings visitors who call you, those calls count like any others.
Star ratings, here or anywhere else
We don't import ratings from Google or Yelp, and even your Polish Perfect rating isn't a ranking input today. Reviews show on your listing. They don't reorder the list.
How long you've been listed
An old listing has no head start. A salon claimed yesterday with a full profile outranks one that's sat empty for years, the same day.
How to move up
- 1
Claim your listing
The biggest move. Claimed salons sit above every unclaimed salon in the city before anything else is counted.
- 2
Complete the profile
Three or more photos of your work, your hours, three or more services with prices, a short description, your website. Each one adds to completeness.
- 3
Keep it current and worth calling
Update something every month. Keep photos recent and prices real, so visitors who land on your page call, get directions, or tap your website.
The one move that jumps a tier
Claiming puts you above every unclaimed salon in your city before any other factor is counted.

Questions owners ask
Can I pay to rank higher?
No. Paid placement buys a Featured slot that's labeled and kept separate from the list. Your organic position is decided only by the factors on this page.
Why did my salon drop?
Usually one of three things. Your listing hasn't changed in a while, so freshness faded. The lift from a recent claim wore off. Or another salon in your city claimed and completed its listing and moved past you. Update something and the first two fix themselves.
How long does a new listing take to rank?
A new or newly claimed listing takes its place within a day. The pages refresh on a schedule, so a change you make this morning shows up by tomorrow at the latest.
Do my techs' reviews affect my salon's rank?
Not directly. Reviews aren't a ranking input. They show on your listing, though, and a page with real reviews gets more calls, which does count.
How is this different from Google and Yelp?
They don't publish their rules. We do, on this page, and they're the same for every salon. There's no ad spend hidden in the organic order and no imported rating deciding who's first.
Does the Vietnamese page rank separately?
No. The English and Vietnamese pages for a city show the same salons in the same order. Claiming moves you up on both.
The first step is the biggest one
Claiming moves you above every unclaimed salon in your city today. Everything else on this page comes after.
