How to create your nail tech profile
By the end of this page you'll have a public page in your own name, at a link you picked, with your details and photos of your work on it. Here are the exact taps, in the order the app shows them. Want to know what the page does for you first? Read what a profile is.
Made for nail techs
Have these ready
- An email address you can check, to make your account.
- The name your clients know you by. Your username becomes your link, so it's worth a little thought.
- A few photos of your best sets. Each one has to be a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file under 10 MB.
- Your Instagram and TikTok names, if you want them linked on your page.
Create your profile, step by step
- 1
Create your account
Tap the button at the bottom of this page and sign up. Once your account is made, we ask you a few setup questions before you reach your dashboard.
- 2
Tell us you're a nail tech
On the screen "What brings you to Polish Perfect?", pick "I'm a nail technician". Then tap "Continue".
You pick this once and it stays with your account, so choose the nail tech option here.
- 3
Pick your specialties
On "What do you specialize in?", tap every service you're good at: Gel, Acrylic, Nail art, Pedicure, Dip powder, French, Ombre, Manicure, Chrome, Builder gel. You need at least 1. You can also choose your "Years of experience", but you don't have to. Tap "Continue".
- 4
Add your city and finish setup
On "Where do you work?", type your "City", choose your "State", and tap "Continue". On "What are you here for?", pick 1 answer and tap "Finish". The "You're all set" screen tells you your profile is live. We made it from your answers, under a username built from your name.
If you picked "Get more clients", tap "Finish your profile" to go right to it. If you picked something else, tap "Go to your dashboard".
- 5
Open the profile editor
Go to "Profile" in your dashboard. On a phone, it's in the bar at the bottom: tap the gear icon at the top right, then "Edit profile". On a computer, it's in the menu on the left: click "Edit Profile".
- 6
Choose your username and fill in the rest
Change "Username" to the name you want in your link. It has to be 3 to 40 characters, using letters, numbers, and hyphens. Your new link shows right under the field as you type. Then fill in "Display name", "City", "State" (2 letters), "Years of experience", "Instagram", "TikTok", and "About you". You can tap "Change photo" to set your own picture, and tap "Specialties" on or off, up to 10. Tap "Save changes".
"About you" holds up to 500 characters. Anything past that gets cut off when you save. If you change your username later, your page moves to the new link, so update it anywhere you've shared it.
- 7
Add photos of your work
Back on "Profile", stay on the "Photos" tab. On a phone, tap "Add a design" and choose a photo. On a computer, click "Upload". Photos go up 1 at a time, so repeat this for each set. After your first photo, use the tile at the end of the grid to add more.
On a computer, hold your mouse over a photo for 4 more controls: "Set as featured" puts it first, "Hide" takes it off your page without deleting it, "Delete" removes it for good, and "Share to a business" lets you search for the salon where you did the set and put the photo on that salon's page with your name. Each photo can go to 1 business. These controls aren't in the phone view yet.
- 8
Look at your public page and share the link
On a computer, click "View Public Profile". On a phone, tap the gear icon, then "View public profile". Your page opens in a new tab. Its address is polishperfect.co/nail-techs/ followed by your username. Copy that address and put it in your Instagram bio, on your business card, or in a text to a client.
What happens next
There's no switch to turn your profile on. It's public from the moment setup finishes, and every save and every photo shows on it right away.
Once at least 1 photo is showing, your profile is listed in the nail tech directory. Once it has a photo or something in "About you", we tell search engines they can list it too.
To connect a salon to your profile, you confirm where you work. When a client leaves you a review, a notice on your "Profile" screen says a review is waiting. Tap it, find the salon under "Pending Confirmations", and tap "I work here". The review and its photo then show on your profile and on the salon's page. Work at 2 salons? Confirm both. Here's how to get your first reviews.
If something goes wrong
- It says "Username is already taken."
- Another tech has that username. Usernames are first come, first served. Try adding your city, your last name, or a number, then save again.
- My username didn't save the way I typed it.
- We save usernames in lowercase and turn spaces and symbols into hyphens. If what's left is too short or too long, you'll see "Username must be 3-40 characters." A few words we use for our own pages can't be picked either. For those you'll see "This username is reserved."
- My photo won't upload.
- "File must be under 10 MB." means the photo is too big, so send yourself a smaller copy or crop it. "Only JPEG, PNG, and WebP are allowed." means it's another kind of file, so save it as a JPEG first. "Upload failed. Check your connection and try again." means the photo didn't reach us, so try once more on a better signal.
- My Profile screen says "You haven't set up your profile yet."
- Your profile wasn't made during setup. You can make it right there. Fill in "Username" and the other fields on that screen, then tap "Save Profile".
- I can't find myself in the nail tech directory.
- The directory lists profiles with at least 1 photo showing. Add a photo, or on a computer use "Show" on a photo you hid. Still stuck? Write to support@polishperfect.co.
